What to do if.....

WHAT TO DO IF CHILLED, FROZEN OR HOT FOOD STORAGE OR DISPLAY EQUIPMENT IS NOT MAINTAINING TEMPERATURE

  • Check stock to ensure it is still below 8oC (chilled)18oC (frozen). If it is still within temperature, transfer to another unit. Record the action taken.
  • If chilled food is above 8oC and may have been above 8oC for more than 4 hours, it must be disposed of.
  • Arrange repair of fridge.
  • If frozen food is above 18oC but below 8oC, treat as chilled. If it is above 8oC, discard.
  • If, after checking, freezer temperatures are between -15oC and -18oC, close the door and re-check the unit 1 hour later. Make sure the freezer has not been switched off accidentally.

If after 1 hour temperatures are still above 18oC, take a between pack food temperature. If the probe reading shows that the food is still below 12oC, but that it is still frozen solid, you may move it to another freezer unit. Record the action taken. Arrange repair of freezer.

  • If hot food is not maintained above 63oC, display for a maximum of 2 hours. At the end of this time, discard.

FM25 Wireless Fridge / Freezer Thermometer

FM25 Wireless Fridge / Freezer Thermometer

Hygiene Audit Systems has recently assessed a number of temperature monitoring solutions and we are most impressed with this low-cost wireless system from Digitron.

Even if you already have a Fridge or Freezer with a digital display how do you know it is accurate? Where is the sensor? Is it showing the lowest or highest temperature in the fridge?

Unlike most conventional fridge thermometers the DigitronFM25 wireless technology allows you to view internal temperatures without opening the refrigerator door. Each pack comes with two sensors which can be used either both in one fridge or in separate fridges or freezers.

You can take control: put the wireless RF sensors where you want to in the fridge: try out a number of positions until you find the warmest spot. This is where you want to ensure your food is still kept below legal or in-house parameters. These remote sensors transmit temperature data wirelessly to the base station display which can be mounted magnetically to the cabinet or free standing using the fold away bracket. The display is updated every 8 minutes.

The FM25 audible and visual alarms are triggered when temperature exceeds pre set maximum and minimum temperatures after 15mins (this prevents false alarms when door opened for loading) - alerting you to high or low temperatures that could affect the product quality.
