Why manage supplier certification?

By law, traceability must be maintained by all food businesses. You must be able to identify your suppliers and business customers and maintain appropriate records.  Ensuring your food suppliers’ hygiene standards are adequate is important to ensure the food you produce is safe and an essential part of a due diligence defence. 

Companies need to ensure that the certification relates to their own products, and that suppliers are not using other factories at different times. There is a need to take care that suppliers’ certificates have not lapsed, so constant awareness of the current situation and dialogue is essential.
