Fit Fruit and Vegetable Wash

Food safety is a number one priority for food businesses.  Salads, vegetables and herbs may be used without heat treatment, so their washing is a critical control point (CCP) because they may be contaminated with food poisoning bacteria as well as soil, insects and other foreign bodies.

There were 120 outbreaks associated with salad and vegetables between 1992 and 2007 in the UK and many more abroad.

In September 2006, bagged fresh baby spinach sold by the Dole Food Company was linked to an E. Coli 0157 outbreak that was blamed for the deaths of three people and illness in over 200 others.  Since then, several other recalls of E. coli contaminated lettuce and other greens have made the headlines.

So what can you do to make your salads, vegetables and fruit safer to eat and to control the CCP?

Fit Wash is a safe to use, natural produce wash. Because of its surfactancy powers, it not only kills harmful bacteria such as E.coli O157, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria but it also cleans – it removes, pesticides, waxes, soils, insects and other contaminants.  Because of this it out-performs chlorine particularly on dirty produce and leaves no nasty residues, aftertaste or smells.

Fit Wash is recommended for use on whole, cut, chopped, sliced and other processed produce and is very easy to use.

It is certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union, certified vegan by the American Vegan Association, and certified by the Vegetarian Society (UK).
